Hi

Just managed to find the only photo I have of me at High School which survived the "mistaken throwing out during the move".

We had a trip to the Houses of Pariament and I think it was in my second year which was about 1965 I am on the front row second from the right. I can remember quite a lot of the names and will put them on later.

Does anyone recognise themselves?

Wow these are brilliant thank you so much. Will have to have a closer look and see if I can see myself anywhere as it is my era.

Off topic you posted a pic in the St James@ Street thread and I think my granny is on the pic. Can you confirm please? I have replied in the thread. Thanks

Great pictures Miv.

Second one of the Courtyard....that is my sister Heather Manning standing there with the long hair and short skirt! Definitely mid-sixties. She is on holiday at the moment so I will ask her next week if she can remember the photos being taken

Lovelly pic, art class? Wonder what date, looks about 1900.
It looks like the classroom had electric lights (is that a light switch on the right?). Lynn first had mains electricity from the Kettle mill in 1898.

I was at the High School from 1975 to 1982 (it amalgamated with Alderman Catleugh school in 1979). I have a few pics - they are mostly of my friends but do show the building, the uniform and the garden. Am still in touch with some of these girls

Clockwise from top left (if memory serves): Shaunagh Henry, Sarah Mitchell, Moya Luckett, Mr Wilmore (head of 6th form), Joanna Scase, Hilary Sykes, Helen Eskdale, Catherine Clements, Debbie

Image

The garden was out of bounds for most of my school life, but 6th formers were allowed to use it on good weather days

Oh Wow,
How lovely to see the old b+w pix of chem lab, garden, library etc. And even better to see pix of old class mates, Moya Luckett; Sarah Mitchell; Christine...and Mrs Freymouth. I adored her but she was sooo scary, with her bright orange lipstick and sharp manner. She inspired in me such a love of English, I studied to be a journalist, spent 20 years working on various newspapers and magazines and now teach(!!) journalism. Who would have thought it:)
Who remembers other English teachers, Mr Kennett and gentle Mrs Middleton (who also taught art, if I remember): not one of my finest subjects...Not that any were particularly, you could definitely say I was a late developer, academically.
When I started KLHS, Miss Sparks was Head, followed by Mrs "Sit down Guls" Morgan: I can't remember if she stayed on after our merger in '79?
I visit KL two or three times a year, as my sister lives in Wootton, and am currently trying to convince my husband we should buy a "holiday" flat in our old school grounds!
Sarah Mitchell was a budding writer I remember, did you get your book published?
What a blast from the past, do get in touch, anyone.
Louise.
PS When I left KL for training in London, I decided my middle name would look better in print( I know, I know, but Tracy is so plain). And of course, Halkett is my married name, nee O'Neil.

Hello Louise! Glad you liked the pics - we were in the same year. I remember you, but you weren't called Louise then. I am still in King's Lynn, as are Debbie, Sarah and Christiane (in the pics), but Moya has moved across the pond, last heard of as a professor in Brooklyn. Don't know whether Sarah ever had any work published. We too have often considered buying a flat in the old school - for our retirement, where we can be old biddies together and wear lots of bottle green!
