Postby EWW » 12 Apr 2008, 09:34

Had one of our guest viewers contact me yesterday and asked if i knew where she could get a copy of the old film that was made in Hunstanton starring Alec Guinness from locally. Any suggestions?
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

Thanks for that Choks, but i've had a look at all the web sites and the lady wants to try and buy one locally. I think Blockbusters video will get one in for her but not sure.

Does the lady want dvd or video-tape? HMV have the dvd online for £9.99 . HMV on the high street could probably order it in but I don't know if it'd be the same price. I think it's the film my aunt was in as an extra.

I have been looking, for several years, for a copy of the Hunstanton location film "Barnacle Bill", with no success. I was browsing the TV listings just before Christmas and saw that it was to be shown on the "Christmas Gold" channel. I put that in the Planner and had a thoroughly good laugh whilst watching it. The views of Hunst'on brought back childhood memories; although I remember the train, I can only recall the skating rink at the end of the pier, not the theatre. The bank scene reminded me of the counter in the National & Provincial Bank, on the Tuesday Market Place, in the early 1960s. I noticed that the film was to be repeated, so there may be a chance for some to watch it over the next few days. I don't know if it is available on the Amazon FireStick thingummy. After seeing reviews of it "bombing" in the cinemas, I was thinking that I may be disappointed, but, oh no, it was very interesting. Certainly not as disappointing as "Revolution" - this film has been repeated several times over the last couple of weeks (I bought this in VHS tape many years ago, from W.H. Smith, for about £10!)
