So Lynn doesn`t have any Lesbian/Gay people living in it or any Lesbian/Gay club`s & pubs, or at least any with internet access?
How strange.

I`m always out on the scene in Wolves, Brum & Shrewsbury, so much fun without the testosterone factor, ya know?
No blokes pawing over you all night (not that i mind if there fit), yeah the odd gurl comes onto you which is sometimes flattering unless she looks like Fatima Whitbread. YUK! No fights, yeah ya get the odd lesbian bitch slap but hey thats gurlz for ya & it`s hella funny.

I am shocked but then maybe thats just how it is living in the country & not in a bustling metropoils?
I`m not mad, i just have a colourful perception of normality!

But It's 50/50 Gay / Straight..on most days... 8)

The Lesbians Have been Barred Several times...

For their Far too Butch Behaviour..

and cause all the Fights...Trouble...and Bickering

Why do they have/want to look like 'Straight Men'..?

Hmmm i ask myself that question too? *scratches head*
But each to their own, whatever floats ya boat.
In my own personal opinion i would want a femme, a nice trophy lipstick lesbian
If i wanted someone who looked like a fella i`d just go out with a fella.

4 days a week is a bit carp but better than none i spose.
I feel very spoilt because here there are so many places to hang out everyday of the week if your so inclined, although we did lose a good venue last week FUGLY UCKERS, always had cabaret & something going on.

Maybe thats a good business idea?
I`ll come down to Lynn & set up a kewl venue/nightclub?
:-D

Can I just correct you on this, (As the owner/manager of The Hob) I think I know what I am talking about.
1. The pub is called the Hob In The Well and it is on Littleport Street
2. The local gay clientele may sometimes refer to the pub as the Knob In The Gob (not Nobb in the Gobb as you stated), more often or not it is used by straight people as a disparaging remark about the pub.
3. 90% of our customers are gay , but straight people are always welcome.
4. The lesbians have not been barred several times.. Like any pub if someone causes trouble they get a warning and if they keep causing trouble then perhaps they will get barred.
5. Yes we are only open 4 days a week... We have tried opening on other nights, but like any pub in town at the moment that isnt a Weatherspoons , Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights are not worth opening for, pubs in town seem to be struggling at the expense of the Weatherspoons chain at the moment.

If you have any other comments regarding the pub perhaps you could try and get your facts straight before posting....

Further to my previous post I also wanted to add the following

Hopefully by the end of this month September 2006 we will have an internet terminal for customers use in the bar..

Also a pub to club in conjuction with Diva has just started, on the last Thursday of every month... Customers coming to the Hob beforehand will receive a ticket enabling them to half price admission to Divas on that night...

Weatherspoons

Postby teddybear1959 » 04 Sep 2006, 21:49

Why are all pubs in Lynn struggling because of Weatherspoons?

I do not live in the town and I very rarely go in pubs anyway, but I am interested in the reasons why pubs are going out of business.

I was in the catering trade from the late 1970's till the late 1980's and it seems that the main reason that pubs are suffering is the increased amount of trade in alcohol that has been taken by the supermarkets. In the 1970's very few people bought drink in their weekly shop, now, it is in every trolley.

I suggest it is the supermarkets that have killed the pub as we knew it.

I am pleased there is a place in the town where homosexuals can go, but isn't it a shame that they can't go everywhere?

Several of my Friends are 'gay/Lesbian'....

and Have been to the 'Hobb'

But never Returned....

they all say the Atmosphere is Lousy.. Very Dull and Boring...

Theres No Entertainment to Speak of...

No Discos or Strippers or FUN

that you CAN get in other Bars a Short Drive away...

ie ..Cambs or Peterborough...

They say it's like going to a wedding reception , when the Bride and Groom have left....just the Hangers on...Hoping...

NAFF....

Sorry To Be So Negative..
.
But You Must Have Been To Other GAY Bars and seen what Fun can be Had.

Come on 'Tom.Gary' ....Pull Ya Finger Out....Come out from your Seats

We Are in The 'Naughties' after all....

and Internet access Whats that For...Stop you From being Bored...

Divas .....Oh Dear....That Idea was tried in the 80's at 'Blue Heaven'...It only Lasted 3 Months or 'Thursdays' before it was Forced to be abandoned...By Local Thugs...and Police

Was Even Tried at the 'Precinct'..Now DIVAS..same thing Happened again..

Not Many Gays Want To Be Outed in the Local Papers...

Now now,

let's not get too involved with specifics.

Why not try to be positive and work with these people and not against them There is far too much negativity going on in the world, let's be positive.

As I said in my last post, it is a shame that any section of society needs their own place to go to, they should be able to go anywhere they like.

Fact :- Bitter, misinformed and negative comments only ever come from bitter, misinformed, negative people.

To put the record straight yet again :-

The internet access has very kindly been installed by the Norfolk Police in conjuction with other gay pubs in Norfolk for the benefit of free online reporting of Hate Crimes. This is something that our customers have asked if we could have.
At the present time we do not have discos, strippers ?? etc etc due to the fact we do not have an entertainment licence. In order for us to get this license we would probably have to start charging our customers admission fees and it would mean that we would have to have door staff etc, which have to be paid for meaning drinks prices would have to go up. Many of our regular customers comment on how cheap our drinks our compared to a lot of other pubs in town.
With regards to Diva, they approached us with the idea. We agreed that Lynn needs somewhere else for the gay / lesbian locals to go. For your information the night was a great success (well over 100 people in our pub on Thursday) who all went to Diva and reported they had a great time.
I really can't see the night being abandoned because of local thugs and the police (though what they have to do with it I really don't know). If all goes well it will become a regular night with the possibility of it becoming weekly.
Why did you write "Not many gays want to be outed in the local papers".
As you stated this is the "naughties". A large proportion of our customers are out and proud... The majority of them being 18-20 year olds...
What has this got to do with anything that has been mentioned here !!!
The PINK POUND has not deserted us... Business is getting better year on year. As previously mentioned last Thursday we had well over 100 regular customers in. Whoever told you that we get 20-30 people a night if we are lucky really needs to get their facts straight.. I'm sorry your gay/lesbian friends dont get the pub or like what we do. We provide a pub where gay and lesbian people can come to socialise without being worried about what other people are saying or thinking about them. I'm glad to say that all our regular customers we know on first name terms and we are proud that they can come and chat to us if they have a problem. We are not a disco/entertainment venue, we are a small community pub. Try as we might we cannot please all of the people all of the time .

Hi unimatrix-zero :D :welcome2
Yup,, an open forum were inaccuracies, misconceptions, misinformation and rumours can hopefully have some light shone on them and be discussed, as in this case, and wisdom found.

The info you post sounds very positive and I wish you every success. Now my only question is what LAGER do you serve, as I’m a bit fussy about taste. I’d like to visit for a pint sometime having never been in the Hob.

I also would like to here your views on Weatherspoons and how they are killing the pubs in town, but if you do not want to discuss it here I understand.

I think Mike means lager, unless you only serve people over 6' or 20 stone!

Either way I don't fit the bill.

I, too, am interested in the threat, or perceived threat, that large chains are making on our smaller, independant freehouses. I still maintain that the main threat to pubs is by the drinking at home culture spawned by supermarket giants.

Perhaps this could be repositioned onto another part of the site as a general discussion?
