BATH

A few pictures of the wonderful roman town of Bath. No particular order.
From the train just outside of Frome.

It hardly stoped raining for four days.

Noticed this on one of the houses in Bath. Saw an interview with her on tv a few years ago.

Not a time to run out of fuel.

I wonder who Fleur was.

Bath station. On our way back to Frome after a very wet day.

Part of the magnificent Royal Crescent.

Notice for the servants in number one the Royal Crescent. Much the same as my mother had to obey
when in service at Lord Kitcheners house in Kent.

The Turnspit dog at number one.

One of the Roman baths, nice but rather expensive.

The govners seat.

Attendant. He would supply bathers with towels.

These waterways still work after two thousand years. The hot water is fed all round the various bathhouses by gravity
and end up in the river.

Went to Sally Lunns for a Bathbun. Nearly as big as the plate and delicious. Must have been good cos we queued up in the rain for it.

Street entertainers were good but had to dodge the rain.

I told her she is not feeding me enough meat, Bl**dy vegan

Driving home through the gloom we were going to stop at Stonehenge but the weather was just ghastly.
She who must be obeyed managed to get this picture through the murk on her phone.

WEll worth a visit and we will go back. (in the summer) :)

Hi EWW, thought you might have been away as Forum quiet for a few days. Yes it has been wet and windy down here in the SW.
Fleur Lombard was a firefighter in Bristol and Avon who died in a supermarket fire in Bristol. She was the first female firefighter to die on duty in peacetime in 1996. A bursary was set up in her honour and the locomotive was named after her in May this year.

Thanks LOB. Sad story. I salute all of our services where life and limb are put on the line to protect us. Police, fire, RNLI and the military.
I am not foretting the NHS as the staff are under threat of harm every day of the week. Thank heavens for good people.

Wet and windy was right. I am sure I saw Noahs ark on the Avon.

Had a great time but the rain was of biblical proportions at times. We will be going back though as we want to explore the surrounding area a bit more.
