Just beside the Gate House. there is a big empty building, with what looks like art deco wording '' ford'' was this a furniture shop or something.

It was the old Ford garage. It has its own turret to match the South Gate.

The Pilot cinema was the same style and build at the same time, just about. And I think built by the same building firm. (I will check on that)

I think you will find that they were built by C. D. Allflatt and designed by Keeble Allflatt, C Ds son. Keeble Court now stands
on the site of the old Pilot cinema. Keeble was my landlord when I lived in Thomas Street.

Have always liked the deco style of this building. There are pictures on here of the deco interior of the Pilot cinema.

That area is up for redevelopment. Some of the plans are on the forum.
