HELP what are these?

Please can anyone identify these creepy crawlys? I just received some plants from a nursery and lo and behold.

Hi I seent for 3 Red Hobbit Aquilegias, they came from a nursery!! Of course I have contacted him, he says they did not come from his place!!!!!!!!

My immediate thought was CRICKETS

He sent them first class so they could not have just hatched out they are tooooooo big, I just don't want to risk all my other plants, I need a concrete answer to what they are.

They are crickets. When I used to go fishing in the states for trout we used crickets as bait.

You could be right about them being crickets Pat. They do seems to have rather large back legs. Apparently the adults lay their eggs in garden soil ( and probably compost) and the young hatch out around Spring. I would pick off as many as you can, wash off the plants and repot. You may want to dispose of the creatures elsewhere, or 'squish' them. Hope this helps. T

I love Aquiligias, these are what have bloomed so far.

Just bought some Black Barlow's and of course the bug infested Red Hobbit, plus I have one with a greenish flower that has not shown it's face yet, also a couple of darker pink ones (flower head a bit bigger than yours) also this lovely 'blue' one, it's purple to me lol called Winky ? blue & white. Also waiting for some called Ruby Port.

That's a beauty Pat, they are going to look fantastic when you get them all together . Thank goodness for our gardens, hopefully keeping us sane .How did your tradescantia and pond thistles do this year? T
