Always happy to help Pat :-). Please tell your neighbour that they can grow up to 10 metres, but can be trimmed down to grow as bushes also.

Further to all the discussions of identifying the tree, I have just been to look at the tree and there are upright 'catkin' type buds that then must turn into the soft spiky looking 'flowers, and at the end of each branch are a cluster of leaves, can we still say it's a Grey Willow?
There is another tree that we would like help naming, there is one small tree in her garden and a bigger tree in the communal area. I will start a new post with those pics.
Thanks :)

Hi Pat, yes definitely Grey Willow, had it confirmed by Kew Gardens, no less. :) sometimes called Rusty Willow as well. You can look it up if you wish, type in Salix Cinerea and you will see quite a few photos of it. Look forward to seeing the new ones you need help with. T ps see also subspecies Salix oleifolia, good picture on the R H S website.

Wow yes, there are several orangey colourations here and there, 'Rusty Willow' sounds right.

Think the attached matches one of your original pics.
