Cross Bank Rd: Block work repairs

Postby warwound » 05 Mar 2015, 16:25

Maintenance and repair work is taking place on Cross Bank Road:

The aim of this project is to repair and maintain the condition of the erosion protection along this stretch of the Tidal River.
The damaged sections of concrete block work will be replaced to ensure the flood embankment is not damaged and continues to reduce the risk of flooding and property in King's Lynn for many years to come.
Funding for this project is being provided from Flood Defence Grant in Aid.
The total cost £0.9 million.

To the left you can see a new wind turbine has been built on the east bank of the river.
The turbine on the right has been there a while now.

The new turbine provides power for the Riverside Business Centre, any surplus power is used by Dows.
Built at a cost of £1.4 million, based on it's current output it'll pay for itself in about 7 years.

More work in progress down Cross Bank Road.
The workmen told me that they were widening the road (track!) so that tall vehicles could drive around the turbine instead of risking driving underneath it.
