FAKEBOOK

Postby EWW » 13 Oct 2012, 09:27

I foolishly joined fakebook over three years ago on the advice of one of
my daughters who wanted me to look at some photographs. In double
quick time I had countless numbers of so called friends or people who
wanted to be my friend. Most of these so called friends I would not want
to be in the same town as let alone on my Christmas card list. It is said
that if you have four really good friends in your life you are a lucky
person, sounds about right to me. I have been trying to get my details
deleted from fakebook for over two years now without success. Yes
my account does not appear on fakebook but they still hold all your
details and will tell you that all you need to do is click a button
and you will be re-instated. I do not ever want to be re-instated to
that organisation but they insist on keeping your details and it does
not matter how many times you ask for them to be deleted they will
not do it.
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

EW, you're so right. I don't understand the need to live life on Facebook or anything like it.

My thirty five year old step daughter plays out her life on fake book, so much so she documents her marriage breakdown on it. She has hundreds of 'friends,' one of which is her nearly ex-husband. He can read everything she writes, and the replies to it all. There's just nothing private.

Both her children have accounts and try, unsuccessfully, when they with us, to spend time on FB.

This stuff is more addictive than heroin, and I fear almost as damaging.

:D It can be a great thing for us far away from our familys I now know all My sisters children and grandchildren and the same on my husbands side, I can watch them all grow, you just have to only let family or close freinds in, I dont put anything on there I dont want anyone to know about, I would be lost without it but I have to say I love our forum better :D :D :D

That's so true EW.

I got 'burned' on the net thirteen years ago. Bank account hacked ... cost a lot of money. Never again.

With fake book shares at so low a price the temptation to make some quick bucks by selling one billion lots of personal data to the highest bidder will be enormous, too much to resist I think.

The fall out from that lot will be unbelievable!

:D The young ones wont email, I take all my sisters grandchildrens pictures and put them on DVDs for her at the end of the year they dont send her all of them and she dont go on the internet she always look forward to that.
I dont bank on line You just have to be careful I am not worried about anyone seeing my pictures, I love the fact that I can share them with all my family at the same time. But I quess the old saying ( To each his own) :smt007 :smt007

While I agree with some of what you're saying eww for me it is a Godsend because I can stay in touch with family & friends in England that I would not be able to on a daily basis. I also know there is a lot of drama on FB but all one has to do is hide the comment or delete from FB all thogether. We do have many friends both in England, Scotland, & the USA that without FB we would not have contact. So while I understand your feeling I hope and pray FB will be a free way to stay in touch with many all at once.

Each to his/her own as stated. My whole point is that you cannot delete from
facebook completely. Facebook hold on to your details no matter what. In my
opinion this is totally wrong and should not be allowed. Facebook makes money
out of your details just like the DVLA and other businesses do, and once you
have signed up have no say in it whatsoever.
