Children's homes

Hi all,
Anyone know where orphaned children of the second world War would have gone to. Was there a children's home in Kings Lynn?

Mike Prior has been mentioned on here before and he was an orphan taken in by a Lynn family that lived next door to us in Gaywood.
He was not orphaned in Lynn. Uptill 1948 the Union house (workhouse) was still in operation so some could have gone there. I think
any local childred orphaned would have been taken in by extended family. I cannot think of childrens home as such. Will check with
my 90+ year old sister to see if she can remember any.
