True Eww but it all boils down to time! Not enough hours in the day. Notts libraries have only just started having free ancestry this year & its £3 return on the bus to my local library 3 miles away so I only use them really to do parish records searches (there goes all my time)!

If anyone is still following this thread, the F J Chaplin on the wedding certificate is my grandfather Frederick John Chaplin. As only male witness, I presume he was best man. I have a wedding & other photos. Also postcard from Percy to Fred at beginning of war. Could scan when find again and add here if my computer skills are up to it.

Hi all....I know it's three years later...but what would the chances be of seeing a scan of Percy and Alice's wedding? I've been researching the Gazley family (my husbands ancestors) and am finding myself quite attached to this family. I also need to solve a mystery man in a photo who may have been included in the wedding photos.

The items I had, including wedding photo, have now been donated to Lynn Museum. I did keep scans, however.

F J Chaplin is far right in back row of wedding photo. Don't know who the other men are, apart from
groom.

Hi Chapesse..thank you so much for responding. My apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
It's hard to look at the pictures and think what sadness lied ahead for them both. So young and their lives cut short by that horrible war.
I've enjoyed researching the Gazleys....if I could sit on a plane long enough would love to visit Kings Lynn. Ah well...shall keep researching from the kitchen table.
Thanks again...

Hi There

I am researching the Gazley family mentioned above and would appreciate any information/stories/pointers to websites that anyone could share about the deaths of Percy George [B: 1885 Wisbech- 1914 France] & Alice Maud Rowe [B:1888 Kings Lynn- ? in the war apparently living in Bentinck Street??]

My connection is his grandfather George [1828- 1913] and his 2nd wife Harriet Holland  and the Holland family of Norfolk and Suffolk.

Any little precious snippets MUCH appreciated
Many Thanks
Jan

Hi Jan...Alice died on 19 Jan 1915. She was one of four people killed that night. There is alot of newspaper articles online. I am in Australia and we have access to historical newspapers for free. Hopefully this link will work for you.

She is buried at Hardwick Rd Cemetery, Kings Lynn.

Percy is buried at Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium.

They died so young...very sad.

Oh lovely photo EWW....thank you for posting. I love the way the women used to dress. Can't imagine how the ones that came to Australia coped in the heat and dust though! Would it be ok to copy the pic for my personal tree?
