Whalebelly/winterton; researching a Whalebelly tree, does anyone have any information on Mildred Whalebelly b1914 to Walter george and Jessie Mildred nee Sturman.Mildred married Alfred C Winterton in 1937 and I believe she died in 1999 in Norfolk.did she have any children ? Also, frances May Whalebelly, b 1894 in Griston to Thomas Whalebelly and Albinia nee Clarke, have her as May in 1901 census but nothing after except she was alive in 1911. Any one know anything? Thank you for previous replies.Am still struggling for info on Walter George Whalebelly(akaGeorge) Born 1889/90 in Griston. His wife Jessie died in 1914. I believe he was in army during WW1 and re-married a Charlotte J Harper in 1918.He died in Surrey in 1960, but I have lost track of him between those times. Were there any children ? Also if my research is correct Re Wintertons, Brenda married ? Giles and Andrea ?Simpson. They would be my cousins, mildred,s brother Lewis was my dad.Does anyone know them or any family. Thanks

While googling the name Whalebelly, I have come across this rather old post by bagatha, enquiring about Walter George. I do indeed have information which would fill the gap for her, but realise I may be too late. However, I'm posting this reply in the hope that someone linked to this post may reply.

Hi, Bagatha
I hope that you are still active on this site. My sister "Lel" told me of your enquiry, as we are grandchildren of Walter George Whalebelly.
I can confirm that Walter George (known as George) was on the Electoral Role for Reigate, Surrey in 1930 He is registered at 80, Earlswood Road with Ethel Whalebelly, which is where they lived in our childhood. They had two young daughters at that time - Joyce Doreen and Joan (too young to be on the electoral roll). Both daughters later married and each had one son and one daughter.
We did meet Millie and Cyril and their two daughters, at some time in the 1950s I think.
I have no info. about George' movements between about 1918 and 1930, or assurance that records around that time are definitely his.
It was interesting to hear of your link with the family.

I think Charlotte J Harper was a widow when she married Walter George. Born Charlotte Jane C Butter Terrington Nfk. her 1st husband was Herbert Ernest Harper born Downham Nfk died Saddlebow Rd K/Lynn buried 3.2.1911 K/Lynn
Did Walter & Charlotte divorce ? as she and her eldest daughter Florence Winifred are at 21, Langham St. K/Lynn in 1939c. They both died at that address Florence was buried 18.7.1944 -[never married ] Charlotte was buried 8.5.1945 aged 68yrs
1911c Charlotte & Herbert have 4 other children.
So did Walter marry Ethel Hogarth in 1953 at Ealing.
Confined to indoors due to age so needed something to do, just hope fridge & freezers keeps us going.
