THURSTONS DAIRY

Postby EWW » 07 Apr 2021, 10:40

Carrying on from the Swiss Cottage thread. While looking through an old directory I saw that Thurstons had a small dairy in Burkitt St at one time.
I am wondering if this is them.

Last house on the left 2 daughters Jo & Elsie they were our milk girls. They used to organise theatre trips among the customers.
Just googled it and the dairy was where the garage now stands.

The last house on the left had a man called Ron living there when I was at 47. There was a house beyond the dead end that I think
was a builders yard at one time. The guy that lived there was a postman. Him and his wife used to come into True's yard for a
cuppa and a cake quite often. Never did know their name.

Thanks for that desira. Was the Jex family anything to do with Wagg & Jex the builders?

I did wonder about Barbara living in America after looking up her marriage.
Always sad to hear about the death of someone you remember from growing up.
