Yes Ev , Charlotte never had any children but was called Aunt by most .

The P.Benefer is Pleasance nee Lusher who was married to Tom 'Boots ' Benefer.

Arthur Paynter always calls Pleasance "Aunt Plessie" in his little dvds and writings, but was she his real aunt or did everyone call her that,
or was she a different person altogether?

Arthurs grandmother was Sarah Kirby nee Gardiner, she was cousins with Plessies husband Tom 'Boots' Benefer ,this may be the reason for calling her aunt .

The Kirbys lived North Street next house along to Trues Yard on the census .

Sylvie Sillis who was a volunteer at true's and eddie sillis's sister in law always talked of "Riler" Kirby who I think was her grandfather.
She told me that when she was a kid people used to call her "Little Riler". My eldest brother had mate called Rip Kirby from the Northend
who emigrated to Canada I think, or it may have been Oz. Do not know if Rip was his real name or not. Have you ever come across him?

To be honest I haven't done much research on the Kirbys, all the Kirbys in my tree seem to be Mariners and Seamen in the 1800's, I've heard the name Riley Kirby maybe in one of the books.

I saw a pic in another post ,an outing in Crowland ,which you said was Arthurs grandfather 'Moaner ' Kirby is 'Moaner' and 'Riler' the same person ?
