The only Ellis family I know in that area is Tony I think his name is but only ever called him Elly who used to live, or maybe still do
opposite the Loke rec. I'm sure his family were fishermen.
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

Pat Midgeley, of Trues Yard fame, interviewed a lot of old Northenders, using cassette tapes. Harry Ellis was one of those people. If the tapes still exist at Trues, there might be a record of who he was and where he lived.

They are all in the sound archive room. Anyone can go in and ask to record a story of the Northend or listen to one.
The recording studio is a great asset and you can have someone in with you to record it... or record it yourself if you are shy like me.

Mr Ellis, is Harry Ellis and Polly was indeed his Grandmother...... Polly had a daughter Nellie in 1894. Nellie married Harry Ellis Snr in 1915 and they had a son Harry Jnr in 1918. He is the one on Arthur's recording.

1911c Nellie Tovell Goodson is with her grandparents Edward & Mary Ann.
Tovell ? our ancestors were very clever in naming the father.

i wish a couple of mine were a bit more clever!

i had luck with my 3x great grandmother whos middle name was Thornbury and i found a record of maintenance payments from a David Thornbury in the payments to bastard children but unfortunetly the only surviving records run from about 1825-1835.

A ancestry DNA test by one of the descendants would soon reveal the father with the clue of Tovell.

I wonder how they would have felt, had they known that over one hundred years later, we would be finding out all about them!!!!
