PS. I think that John gave true's yard a copy of his family tree. Not sure of that but an email to Lindsey Bavin could be the way to go for you 82.

John is talking on the film but you do not see him only the photo as on here and a football one. He would not let Arthur film him :)

He was in the army in Germany with Ken Regeleus after the war who was an evacuee here during the war. Ken wrote a loverly little
book called "To The Long Pond" all about his time here as an evacuee. It gave Ken a lifelong love of the countyside. Ken went on to
gain a Ph.D in Philosophy and Sociology and taught French and Mathematics. So the little old school he was at in Lynn did him no harm whatsoever.

Thank you all .

Yes I would love to borrow the cd Rospaul, do you live local ? I live in West Lynn .

I wonder if there's a copy of Arthurs book upstairs in Trues Yard to look at , I'll wait and pop up there once the museum reopens .

It's funny you should mention the book by Ken Reglous as I'm re-reading it now , I haven't read it for over 20 years , interesting to see there's another picture of Loke Road firewatchers which I'd never noticed before.

A few more Northend kids. VE day celebrations.
Image

George street residents celebrating also. Some names but not many. Perhaps some will be added.
Do not know where in the group they are.
Bridges, Peacock, Case, Dixon, Gore, Register, Earl, Wakefield, Mendham, Rake, Gordon, Purdy, Sheppardson.

Yes its a good little read 82. I was at Johns down Page Stair ln when Ken phoned. John was a bit loathe to wear his hearing aid, and
his false teeth. It was a bit like a two Ronnies sketch listening to them trying to have a conversation, hilarious.

Re VE photo. After I married and left Lynn mum always said there was someone from George St. who always asked after me. I think the girl could be Ann Gordon.

Just spent another enjoyable half hour watching one of Arthurs dvds again. Its all about the extentions to the museum, the boatbuilding, and the smokehouse.
It bought back some nice memories for me of my 10 years there. The DVD is just called True's Yard Fisherfolk Museum. I do not know if it is still produced and
sold in the museum.

Trues currently sells no DVD's .

I never knew there was other books and dvd's until recently, I started my research in 2012 .

I think Doreen Mendham in the picture was Bill Mendhams wife and the mother of Peter Mendham who played for Norwich.
I also think that Ron Peacock when he grew up worked with our member RP on the GPO and worked mainly with Pop Taylor
another old Nothender but sadly no longer with us. Pop had a son called Gary (I think)and he used to fish for John Willie,
but may have worked for others also. Ron was another great footballer and should have gone a lot further in the game.

Bill was my next door neigbour until his demise a few years ago. Bill had an identical twin and they were very hard
to tell apart. There is a picture of them both in a picture of North end united football team in True's yard tearoom.

I think Bills twin was Les Mendham ,Les used to live near me in West Lynn ,whenever he saw me in a football kit he would tell me all about his nephew Peter who played professionally a bit before my time even though I do remember him playing for Wroxham against Lynn in the cup .

Bill lent me a tape of his father recalling stories of German POWs being held in tents on the Walks during WW1 when he was guarding them.
Tragedy was, the tape I copied it to got overwritten and I lost it all. Sadly Bill died and I did not have a chance to re-record it. I often wondered
what became of his collection as he had 100s of old pictures of Northlynners especially football teams. He lent me one of his wife playing in
the first ladies football team to play at Lynns ground. Bill used to call his wife Molly and it is her in this thread. Crowd was bigger than Lynn get :)

One of Bills pictures. Maybe other Northenders on it.

Doreen Mendham was cousin to Bill Mendham. As you said Ev. Bill was married to Mollie.
