I have our member macs (Mr Scott) book and it says Thomas Scott opened it in 1892. The book is called "Made In Lynn" by Martin Scott and it is a real gem.

Hi everybody. Thanks for the comments from EEW. My great grandfather and my grandfather (Scott & Son) bought Nos 93 & 94 High Street for their furniture store. The 'Well Old' pic dates from about 1898. Further details are in my book 'Made in Lynn' published in 2009. desrira37 may find answers in that book. Also much more information on my new website http://www.kingslynn-history.uk devoted to the High Street traders. This is still under development with over 4,000 illustrations still to be added. MACS

So sad for the workers, and the town, that Debenhams will not be reopening after this lockdown is over. The shop under its different
guises has been a great boon to the town and it is certainly my favorite shop in the town. You can still buy on line, but it is not the
same as going into the shop with so much history attached to it. Lets hope the staff are going to be taken care of.

I'd love to take it on. Who are the agents?
I am very interested in local history of mid-Norfolk and I have lots of connections to families in the Lynn area. http://www.norfolk-tours.co.uk/

Cheers.

It does make interesting reading, especially the lease with Debenhams which doesn't expire for a far few years.

I'll have to see if I can find £6,000,000 under the bed.

:)
