Globe

Postby MJR » 10 Dec 2014, 19:59

Apart from the missing tree and side entrance, those pictures of the Globe could almost be the restored TMP! (Well, the road surfaces and car designs have changed too, if we're being really fussy.)

Hi - spotted the plaque from this today in an antique store in New Norfolk, Tasmania, Australia; found this forum when I was doing a quick research on it and thought someone might be interested. Photo hopefully attached.

Great find Ed. The couple of stalls we now have shows the sad demise of the Hill.
Never to return methinks. :(

Mentioned further back in this thread. Pulled down and sold as scrap in 1925.
Would like to see it there now.

It looks like the bike is pulling it over.

I know this is very similar to one of the first pictures on this thread, but I thought it still worth posting. It's taken from an engraving ascribed to H. Bell in the Harley Collection.

They are the GOAD maps and I think they started printing them in 1878 upto 1970. Some foreign went on a bit later.
They are in the map holder at the library.
