As I said in above post. I think they are held in the museums warehouse in Aikman's yard King Street.
We at True's Yard museum used to borrow pictures that never see the light of day from there.

If you ask at the museum they will tell you if it is at King St.
The signature says W. J. White.
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

Not sure what's going on but I replied to this one also. I'd like to know where the pictures are kept, especially John Cross, and who the artist is who signed it.

Do you read the posts made in reply to you fatman.

I told you in the above post that the pictures are more than likely kept in the museums storage warehouse in King street.

And the artist was W J White.

Yes quite possible. The owner seemed to think it was a Baines, I can't remember the reason why, it was a while ago. From what I remember it was a good size, maybe about 16 inches high. It had quite a wide mount frame so don't know if a sig was hiding behind it. The owner also had the one in this thread - > viewtopic.php?f=14&p=850#p850

I will ask Arthur Paynter next time I see him which should be Wednesday who E Southgate was. I only knew Sam, Harry, and John.
Arthurs mum and dad lived above the shop when they first got married.

Link to a couple of paintings of Lynn by W H Hill around 1900.

The one of 'St Anne's Battery' appears to be based on the engraving in the thread's second post. The South Gates one may be c1900?
