There's still plenty of years of sand left, i heard they have started extracting it from beneath nearby fields with them paying the land owner an amount per ton. The biggest threat at the moment is the comeback from the effects from covid which has reduced the demand for sand. On the plus side there will be more movements along that line for a land build up project that will be starting soon.

Sorry, the only info. that i have is that this build up is spoil from HS2 being used to raise up the land level. I'm presuming it is the area behind King's Reach which i think they are hoping to carry on development up to the point of the railway.

When was the Hunstanton line closed to passenger traffic? I gather the last fare carrying train left on May 5th, 1969 but some sources, like the Lynn News, say May 3rd.

Seems to have been May 3rd...? I found this ( http://www.wolfertonroyalstation.co.uk/closure-onwards/ ) and the clipping from 6/5/69 refers to the previous Saturday, which would be the 3rd.

I suppose it would have been around this time or a little later that Wolferton station would have been decorated for the royal family to show up for christmas.
I wonder if they ever noticed them?

I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

Does anyone know if the image of WW1 troops at Hunstanton station is owned by anyone? I am keen to use it in a book about W H Hudson, who loved Norfolk. Thanks.
