My uncle Richard Elliot Wright MM and Bar, off to the front WW1. Lambs to the slaughter. Or as was said..Lions led by Donkeys.

It is the 34th Div Signal Corp Royal Engineers. He earnt the MM at the battle of Arras in which the British and French had
160.000 casualties when it was all over. The Germans had 125.000. What a disaster :(

When I worked in Franch I used to drive through the battlefields surrounding Arras and the cemetaries were very
sad places to see. There are 100s of war cemetaries containing a few to ones with 1000s in.

When WW1 was over uncle Richard was one of the soldiers sent to Germany as part of the occupation force. He was there till 1920.
