Some info. on the above team, prompted by a photo posted by nickc on the Norfolk Regiment 1914-16 thread.

The earliest mention I can find in the local press appears on 26th Jan.1923, with a result of Lynn G.E.R 1 South Lynn Wed Res. 3. In the Yarmouth Independent of 16th Oct.1926, the draw for the 1st round of the Norfolk Wednesday Cup paired South Lynn Wed with Sheringham, while in the Lynn Advertiser of 7th Oct. 1927 there were two scorelines: Holbeach 4 South Lynn Wed 5 in the 1st round of the Lynn Wednesday Hospital Cup; and South Lynn Wed 1 Wisbech Wed 4 in the Lynn Wednesday League. The Lynn Advertiser three weeks later published a table for the league; there were eight teams: three from Lynn, three from Wisbech, plus Downham & Holbeach; a recent game in the Norfolk Wednesday Junior Cup had produced the result: South Lynn Wed 6 Lynn Licensed Victuallers 1. In the Lynn News of 21st Feb. 1928, South Lynn Wed were reported as 2-1 winners (a.e.t) over Wisbech Wed in the semi-final of the Lynn Wednesday Challenge Cup. Mentions of the team appear with greater frequency in the Lynn press during the 1930s.
