harmonicas

Postby littleoldboy » 18 May 2020, 13:00

Posting this after posts on Wheelers selling instruments. I bought a cheap harmonica there, but was never any good at playing it. Probably the only thing I could afford at the time.
Got me thinking about the importance of the harmonica in the music of the sixties, and wondering why it has fallen out of favour. Many of the bands had harmonica players, often the vocalist. It added a blues flavour to the guitar/drum combinations, long before portable keyboards. and you could put it in your pocket or hang it round your neck.
Many favourites of mine: Paul Jones (Manfred Mann)' Keith Relf (The Yardbirds), Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Mick Jagger the list is long.
Any you remember from the Local Music Scene?

Bit of a blues man meself LOB. Seen Paul Jones a few times playing with the Blues band.
Do not forget that great harpoon player Charlie Mccoy. If you have not seen him give a look.
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

And probably the best of them all, Larry Adler.
