Am loving the shots (all), but especially the latter, as I know they're taken within the last fortnight or so.

I had heard about the arrival of the brief detachment of F.16's over on the 'anorak-nerdfest' websites.

Been ages since I saw an F.16 in the air, in fact, the last group I saw en-masse, were 'AV' from Aviano/Italy, attending Excalibur (Aug'2005)

Back then, I'd heard it was on, so, took TWO ATC kids over to Holbeach & watched these 'LN' F.15's, the Aviano'16's & some A.10's "strafe the range".

I do miss my old local base (retired) at North Weald, because each year, the Norwegians send a pair of their F.16's, in wartime commemoration.

Also, in this thread, it's nice to see another visiting unit to 'LN' with a different type - not that F.15's are even monotonous, far from it !!!!!!!

Lastly, there IS some talk, of the 1/72nd diecast company, Hobbymaster, possibly making a release of that (ghastly looking**) chequered bird.

IIRC, that plane took part in the Feb' flypast, commemorating the Feb'44 demise of the Boeing B.17 at Sheffield, nicknamed "Mi Amigo"

P.S, = ** I do like the 6th June '44 "D-DAY INVASION STRIPES", but personally think the Red/White chequers looks a bit naff (each to their own)

The heritage jets have now been joined by a yellow tail so we now have red, blue and yellow. The Makos are here for around a fortnight and there's rumours about some other "specials" over for the D-Day fly pasts.

Hi GT , Good to see ya posting man.

Am hoping you can keep us all reliably informed as to the Dakotas & various 'escorts' that are going to Normandy (75th D-Day), next month.

There MUST be more places rather than just Duxford, where the various DC.3's, C.47's & other commemorative planes are forming-up ?

I can still remember the sheer & utter joy (when I lived in London), seeing SIX x USMC C-130 Hercules flying to Normandy, over London.

Whilst I still DO see C-130 Hercules on a fairly regular basis, I've NEVER seen SIX (let alone US Marine-Corps), in one formation before.

Trust me, it was kinda 'spine-chilling' & thrilling AND exciting (& unexpected surprise), all in one go - That being on the 50th Anniversary (1994)

Relevant to this thread - Am wondering WHICH of these F.15's (Red/White chequers) or others, will be going too ?

There is a great show running at the moment on youtube called "Plane Savers" it is filmed every day and shown every night.
It is all about bringing back a Dak to life in double quick time. Sometimes they throw in a live broardcast. It is run by
Mikey McBryan of Buffalo Airlines fame. People from all over the world are helping them out. They want a picture of this
particular Dak in its DDay colours and the like. It is well worth a look. They wheeled her out for an engine run up last
night after the episode finished and will be shown later today. Times vary when it is shown but if you subscribe you get
a reminder which helps.
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.
