In the 1933 directory I have "Pugh and Sons Hosiers" at 119. No Initials. In the 1966 directory there is no "Pugh" in High street and no 119.
May have been incorperated into another shop.
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

Internet say that Pugh & Son was foundered by Charles Pugh:

"1925 – c1951 (Pugh & Son Ltd.) - A branch of the Letchworth hosiers and shoe specialists Pugh & Son Ltd., opened here on 26th May, 1925. The founder of the firm was Charles Pugh who was born in Leominster in 1860."

Winifred Gwendoline Gathercole married a William H Pugh in 1917 at K/Lynn. Just wondered if there was a connection with the shoe shop. I can see the shop now - no stands just displayed flat on the window bed.

Bit before my time so I don't remember the shop, my mother was only 1 in 1951 when the Pugh shoe shop closed and my father wasn't even born yet! I've included the 3 Gathercole siblings on my family tree but haven't expanded upon their details as they were my 3rd great-uncle's stepchildren.

William H Pugh must have been the son of Charles his marriage to Winifred didn't last. in 1939c William is at 119 High St but has remarried to Evelyn E Smith.
Winifred remarried 4qtr 1937 at Hemel Hempstead to Herbert J Moore.
Florence Edith never married and died in K/Lynn 1980
William married 4qtr 1923 Ely Cambs. Emma Brand. I think William was in the Royal Air Force in 1917 K/Lynn.

Florence died 29/5/1980 at the Sidney Dye House, I used to live round the corner from there and my mother briefly worked there as well but not in 1980.

Just as a matter of interest, the shop was the Sue Rider charity shop that burnt down last year.
