CLOCK CAFE, Gaywood

Postby Uncled8249 » 20 May 2006, 19:32

Hi, Great new cafe opened about a week ago, right by the Gaywood clock. List of different breakfast on menu, up to £4.something, i had one last week, oh dear, bit too much, looks like the 3rd on the list at £2.90 would do nicely.

And Sunday Lunch was great too. £5.00, includes a cuppa.

As an old Gaywood boy this area was my playground when I was a kid,
totally different now, the cafe that Unc had his dinner in was a tea room
then run by two little old ladies ( can't remember thier names) white starched pinnies and all. The house is 16th c, attributed to John Deen merchant, oldest house in Gaywood. Opposite stood the Smithy, old mr
Greenacres place.

Is the Clock Cafe still going? I know it's moved round the corner and was closed for a few days one week fairly recently. My mum was planning on going there with my sister but she heard that it had closed.

Thanks Unc. I wonder if people had gone past the old place they were in and didn't see the poster about moving round the corner?

EWW do you mean Masters. If so it was Mr Masters who started the fund to build the clock as a war memorial...Ed
