Maybe the team who are supposed to be driving the gritters are being employed elsewhere... like taking down the town council's Christmas lights that still are still in place all over the town centre in the middle of January!
Friar Tuck: Let us open a bottle and do our best to save each other's souls.
Azeem: Alas, I am not permitted.
Friar Tuck: Fine then, you talk, I'll drink.

One dull answer is that the Christmas lights are borough, gritting is county...

But anyway, the gritters have been out on priority routes (A10 and the road from Oakwood corner to Watlington were both done, but not the middle of Watlington or Thieves Bridge Road I think) but the snow has overwhelmed the salt in places.

You can download a map of priority routes from http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/Travel_and_tr ... /index.htm - Tennyson is priority but probably not a high one - it's only a weight-limited urban B road now isn't it?
