If I remember correctly I had to do an electricle job at a Wing's farm in either Clenchwarton or it may have been Terrington.
Was your g/g/grandfather a farmer?
I do not want thanks for any research I am able to help out with. I just love doing it.

I doubt it would've been my great-great-grandfather as he died in 1931 but my family were all farmers and from Tilney St Lawrence, Terrington St John. His son and namesake, my 2nd great-uncle, John Wing farmed down at St John's Fen End and died in 1977, could've been him?

You beat me to it leigh. Looked through some of my old work stuff and it was over fen end way.
The farm was like stepping back a century. One of the Wings told me that their car got hit by
a slow moving train on a crossing that was on the farm. The memories that are bought back
by things discussed on here are never ending. :)

I've never heard of the slow train hitting the car story before although the old Middle Drove discontinued railway line was around the area that my family lived. My other 3rd great-grandfather ran the old Highland Laddie pub which was by the station.

I think the old fellow told me it was the Strawberry or Fruit train from Upwell/Outwell. Apprantly it picked up fruit at the farms in the area.

Yeah, the children were:
Florence Edith Gathercole (1881–1980)
William Gathercole (1885–1959)
Winifred Gwendoline Gathercole (1892–)

I don't know what happened to them as they were Alfred's stepchildren and I don't think any of the them were mentioned in Alfred's will?
